Call me Robb
Robert Cangiano (Maya) has been consulting and working within Indigenous art and media for over a decade. He has worked on a diverse list of projects including narrative features and shorts, music videos, experimental narratives and documentaries serving as both photographer and videographer. Robert has served as a director of photography capturing panels, interviews and live events for the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of The American Indian, New York City’s Scandinavian House, The American Indian Community House and Third World Newsreel, of which he is an alumni. In 2013 Robert and his colleague Amalia Cordova created Urban Indians, a multimedia project documenting Native American culture within metropolitan areas. Their goal is to challenge and disprove many negative stereotypes faced by Indigenous men and women while also presenting positive role models and imagery for Native youth and to a non-Native audience.
